My visit to the flooded town of Princeton, B.C.

Wynne lived in the town for 13 years, leaving for good on Friday after the flood. She’s the only staff member onsite right now.

Carrie Wynne has a sense of deja vu. It’s not the property flooded on Main Street, but the extent of the flooding across the mountain towns of Kootenay National Park in British Columbia.

As people dig out after severe flooding, several have been taken to the hospital with injuries.

Bridges washed out, roads covered in sludge

Here’s what I saw:

And here’s what I saw in Princeton:

Wynne: “The first two days, we lost everything. We lost our house, and all our car.”

The medicine Wynne needed for her illness was left behind.

Bikes, furniture, equipment, lights, chairs, Icy Hot, washing machines, mattresses, air mattresses, insurance pamphlets, bedding – all of these belongings are piled up on the ground outside.

Wynne: “It’s heartbreaking.”

Please note this is not my top-story view. It appears as if Carrie ran out of the house ahead of the house number view. Our cameras were only clicking away from a window. (You can also see the above image here)
